What a slug-fest this game turned into. The two teams combined for 23 runs on 29 hits. The Orioles came out on the short side of a 12-11 defeat.

Scott McGregor went 4.2 allowing 8 earned runs and 10 hits. The Chicago starter Rich Dotson went 5.1 allowing 4 earned runs and 7 hits. Neither finished with a decision.

Chicago was paced by Ron Kittle who drove in 6, including three in the fifth inning on a bomb off of McGregor. Five White Sox players had two hits apiece and six Orioles posted a multi-hit game.

With the score tied 9-9 in the bottom of the eighth, the Sox struck for three runs giving Don Welchel his first loss of the season. Despite allowing three earned runs in 2.1, Salome Barojas picked up his first win of the season. Kevin Hickey got the last out for his second save.

Rich Dauer went 2-3 and drove in three with a homer and a double.

Wow, I don't recall Scott Fletcher ever wearing an O's uniform. He was a very good player for a long time with the White Sox, if my memory serves.

That's cool. I just saw a row of Orioles stats, so I just assumed Scott Fletcher was another. I thought maybe the O's had him for a brief while in between stints in Chicago or something.
