Texas Rangers vs Baltimore Orioles

In the first game of a three-game set the Orioles defeated the Rangers 4-2 behind two solo home-runs in the bottom of the eighth by John Lowenstein and Leo Hernandez. Both bombs were hit off losing starter Charlie Hough (1-1).
Storm Davis pitched the first five innings allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits. Sammy Stewart pitched the final four innings earning the victory to improve to 2-1 on the year. Stewart threw four scoreless innings allowing only one hit while striking out four.
The Orioles scattered ten hits and committed two errors.

John Lowenstein had two hits and 2 RBI
Ripken committed his third error of the season

The Rangers used four Orioles errors to their advantage scoring 11 runs (7 unearned) and sprayed out 16 hits en route to a blow-out win over the Orioles 11-2.
Dennis Martinez went 2.1 innings and gave up six unearned runs. Errors by Eddie Murray(2), Cal Ripken and Dennis himself helped Texas build a 8-2 lead after only three innings.
Texas had 15 singles and only one extra base-hit ( home-run Billy Sample). Mickey Rivers, Jim Sundberg and Sample combined to go 10-15, 6 R, 6 RBI and the home-run.

Eddie Murray hit his second home-run of the year in the second inning.
Cal Ripken went 2-4 and committed his fourth error of the year.

Cal Ripken's walk-off hit in the bottom of the 14th inning, gave the Orioles a 3-2 victory and earned the team a series win over the Rangers. Jim Palmer started and went 8 innings allowing two first-inning unearned runs on five hits. Tippy Martinez and Tim Stoddard (1-0) combined to go 6 innings allowing one hit while striking out 11.

Ken Singleton 1-3, Triple?!?! Triple?? He had 4 in 1983 and 25 for his career.
P.S. Ken Singleton was and still is my favorite Oriole when I was a kid... circa 75-83.
Current record 8-5... before last night's game the current Birds were 8-5... just saying.
