Behind the strong pitching from 25 year old starter Chris Codiroli (2-1), the Oakland Athletics held off the Orioles by the count of 4-3. Oakland scored 2 in the first and added two more in the fourth off future HOF'er Oriole starter Jim Palmer (1-1). Palmer only lasted 3.2 innings allowing 7 hits and 4 walks as well. Storm Davis and Tippy Martinez combined to finish the game holding Oakland scoreless for 4.1 innings. The Birds scored 2 in the seventh and 1 in the eight but could not touch the plate against 40 year old Tom Burgmeier earning his second save on the year.

Mike Flanagan (3-0) and Sammy Stewart combined to shut-out the Athletics 6-0. Flanagan went the first five and Sammy went the last four, yielding only six hits between them. The Orioles scored five runs in the sixth inning to put this game away.

Seattle scored two in the fourth and three more in the sixth to beat the Orioles 6-2. Dennis Martinez (1-5) continues to struggle, allowing three runs on seven hits in only 3.2 innings. Sammy Stewart wasn't much better, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in 3.1 innings.
The big blow was a three-run homer in the sixth by Todd Cruz.

The Orioles took the rubber game of the three-game set by the score of 8-2. The Birds jumped all over Mariner starter Gaylord Perry (2-3) for five runs in the first, including a three-run bomb by Ken Singleton. John Lowenstein added a solo shot in the third inning off Perry to finish his afternoon.
Storm Davis (1-0) went 5.1 innings allowing 2 ER on four hits. Tippy Martinez went the rest of the way picking up his second save of the year.
