Title: testing out video posting

okay, so this is a really wretched video, even if it gets me to laugh every time i watch it. the point of me posting it is to give you all an idea of how you can embed videos in posts if you want. you have to have access to the source - but if you've got it hosted somewhere (like i do here on myspace) you can get that code by displaying the source of the full page.

this is also using the recently enabled "doHTML" tags

btw, it's not me screaming...that was somebody nearby, annoying but maybe only half as much as the jumping around of the video - it was my first try of this feature on the camera!! :P

[dohtml]<embed class="ProfileVideo" src="http://lads.myspace.com/videos/vplayer.swf" flashvars="showmenus=1&type=video&t=Patterson+(Orioles)+stealing%2c+9-23-06&userid=89886588&m=1207391899&remove=1" quality="high" wmode="transparent" width="430" height="393" allowscriptaccess="always" play="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>[/dohtml]

somebody else try it?

It works but how did you do it exactly?

if you do a "quote" then you can see the code i used

or i could do that for you ;)

CODE
[dohtml]
<embed  class="ProfileVideo" src="http://lads.myspace.com/videos/vplayer.swf"
flashvars="showmenus=1&type=video&t=Patterson+(Orioles)+stealing%2c+9-23-06&userid=89886588&m=1207391899&remove=1"
quality="high" wmode="transparent" width="430" height="393"
allowscriptaccess="always" play="true"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>
[/dohtml]

i went to the page that had it embedded. i used (in firefox) View-->Page Source

this popped up another window with the html

i looked for that video and the <embed> code surrounding it and did a cut and paste inside the doHTML tags in my post

voila!!

:violin:

oh wait, that's a violin :sad oops:

i found a more generic version for flash videos. this one you have to have a url for the video. in this case, you don't need to use the "doHTML" tags.

haven't tried it myself, so there's my disclaimer.

How to show a Macromedia Flash file in a post

CODE
[FLASH=width,height]http://www..../myflashfile.swf[/FLASH]

In other words, if you had a Macromedia Flash file that had a width of 100 pixels and a height of 200 pixels (100 x 200 pixels), you would type this:
CODE
[FLASH=100,200]http://www..../myflashfile.swf[/FLASH]

here's another example....it's not a video, it's a slideshow, but it's possible now inside the post using the "doHTML" tags. when i posted it on the old board, it was just a link

this is Bowie shots from 2006

[dohtml]<embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/rockyou.swf?instanceid=38052737&ver=102906" quality="high" salign="lt" width="341" height="256" wmode="transparent" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"/><br><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com?type=slideshow&refid=38052737"><img title="RockYou slideshow" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/logo-mini.gif" border="0"></a> <a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/addfavorite.php?instanceid=38052737"><img title="Add to Favorite" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/icons/add_favorite.gif" border="0"></a> <a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/viewslideshow.php?instanceid=38052737&action=rate"><img title="Rate Me" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/icons/rate_me.gif" border="0"></a> <a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/viewslideshow.php?instanceid=38052737&action=note"><img title="Add Note" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/icons/comment.gif" border="0"></a> <a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/slideshow-create.php?refid=38052737">Create Your Own!</a>[/dohtml]
