In my desparate seach to find baseball, I did learn that ex O Mike Johnson won the MVP award in the Taiwan League, finishing with a 20-2 record with a 2.45 ERA. Perhaps the O's can sign him for one of their starting rotation spots. They appear to have plenty of openings.
The O's Chris Roberson is having a solid season, leading off for Hermosillo in the Mexican League. His eight stolen bases is among the league leaders. With Payton gone there would appear to be an opening. Chris is a switchhitter so he is not the true right handed bat the O's need.
i'm not sure what you mean by Payton leaving an opening. if you mean as a leadoff hitter, i'm only worried if the Cubs get Roberts. or were you thinking of left field, or simply having Roberson be a fourth outfielder off the bench? i admit i don't know much about him.
I was thinking fourth outfielder off the bench, but he appears to be a minor league free agent now.
