Thank you ~d. It was a mere 50 years ago that I first signed on with the Marines. I have been retired now for 26 years.

I am the past but SFC Chris Alley (Calley) is the present. My thanks to him and the thousands of others who serve today.

:lol: No, I've never played that game.

For the longest time there was a gallery on Charles street that had a wall-full of vintage American war bonds posters from the Great War. They were too expensive to buy and, really, what would you do with them in your family room anyway? But they had a striking style, urgency, and lack of current political correctness (e.g. in some of the terms used to describe the German threat) that was very appealing. The image above is not quite that style, but I like it.

The diary entry above is British commander Douglas Haig's entry from the war's final day.

Thanks to all who served each Veterans Day and Armistice Day, November 11th.
