Title: HOF Voting

The announcement is less then a week away for this years HOF inductions. Who would you lie to see get voted in this year? Here are my thoughts:

Cal Ripken Jr.- Goes without an explanation.

Tony Gwynn- Probably the best pure hitter since Ted Williams.

Andre Dawson- Former MVP, but up solid consistant numbers every year. One of the best players in the 80's.

Steve Garvey- I think this might be his last year on the ballot, and he's overlooked every year. One of the best defensive 1B's in baseball history, a career BA just under .300, a 9 time all-star, and former MVP. I think he has the merit to be inducted (also one of my all-time favorite players).

I'm on the fence with Jim Rice, Jack Morris and Bert Bleieven...

Say no to Rich "Goose" Gossage. While he innovated the position of closer and put up great numbers, he whines and bitches about getting snubbed entirely too much, so I think he should continue to bitch.

I imagine the writers will start voting guys like this in to avoid the steroid-era players.
I think McGwire should be voted in, in spite of his behavior at the Congressional hearings but
in order to be consistent, they would have to vote Bonds in when he is up. That won't happen.
Therefore I have little interest in this.
If how media-friendly you are is a criteria then Ty Cobb would not be voted in today.

I agree with Milt. I think too much is based on who people like and not on their accomplishments in the game of baseball.
Mark should be in .
This may draw me a lot of hate mail but I think Pete Rose should be in too.
No matter what he did the contribution to the sport was still there.

I can't see McGwire getting in this year, but i think he will eventually. Once everyone catches up to the idea that steroids were more prominant than anyone wants to think.

I agree Miss V,
and when people realize that pitchers used them to their advantage as well.

I think Rose should be in as well... The league needs to quit punishing him, and put him in the HOF for what he did as a player. If the scumbag meter determined if you get into the HOF or not, a lot of the greats would have plaques removed.
