1960 - The Orioles score six runs in the fourth inning to overcome a 5-2 Yankee lead as Chuck Estrada goes on to win his first major league start, 9-5.

From Wikipedia: He tied with Jim Perry for the American League lead with 18 wins that season. ... Estrada also was on top of the American League in hits allowed per nine innings, and finished with a twelve complete games, 144 strikeouts and a 3.58 earned run average. The All-Star Estrada finished second in the 1960 Rookie of the Year voting, falling distantly behind Orioles teammate Ron Hansen. He placed 12th in the American League Most Valuable Player Award voting. Estrada also was on the 1960 Topps All-Star Rookie Roster under the category of right-handed pitcher.

1964 - Jim Palmer makes his professional debut at Aberdeen, South Dakota.

1966 - The Orioles knock off Detroit, 4-1, to set a club record of 10 straight wins.

1970 - Terry Crowley's first major league homer, a three-run shot in the fourth inning, is the key blow in a 9-3 win over the Twins.

1977 - Pat Kelly begins a long-ball streak of five homers in six games by hitting two homers against the Angels, the second a 10th-inning game winner off Paul Hartzell, and a 3-2 victory. The two homers begin a 19-game hitting streak, longest in the American League in 1977.

1984 - Mike Boddicker pitches a six-hit, 3-0 shut-out over Bert Blyleven and the Indians, which includes a season-high nine strikeouts. It's the first of 20 wins for Boddicker.

1992 - The Orioles belt five homers and take advantage of 13 Seattle walks to blast the Mariners, 15-1, at Camden Yards. Tall Randy Johnson is charged with 10 walks, four of them in the six-run fifth, which is capped by Mike Devereaux's grand slam, the first of his two homers on the night. Chris Hoiles, Leo Gomez and Bill Ripken also homer. [gotta love those power '90s wink2.gif]
